New job welding/fabbing 5 minutes from my house. Finally get to practice TIG welding and hopefully get good at it. But for right now I'm a lowly MIG welder on second shift. But at least I'm all by myself so I can bust ass for the first half of my shift and make time to practice TIG'ing or do small projects. I need to source a steel intake manifold flange and maybe an exhaust flange. I'll see how hard it is to make a header from scratch.

Update in car world: going lower this weekend and hopefully getting my welded diff in. Need to get my car inspected on monday so I don't run the risk of getting pulled over when I go dicking around in the rain.

Koguchi kills it in every style. Kit, OEM, whatever. Wish he had an s13 with 15's so I could see how he'd pull it off. Oh well, I'm saving up my pennies for a 5-lug swap and for some schweet 17's. Hella Sunk

More of this will be in my future. Selling my wheels and mounting my tires on my stock teardrops that I will be polishing tomorrow. Will look sorta ghey but it will be worth it once new parts start rolling in. There is a laundry list of things I need to get this chassis buttoned up so hopefully someone buys my shitastic knockoff wheels and gives me the cashflow needed to make moves.

Flakers Flake

Gay temp agency got me all excited about a MIG welding job just to dick me around and say they ended up losing the contract. Ef this shit. Tomorrow I'm going anywhere and everywhere to try and find a job. Printing out stacks of resumes as I type this. I figure if I pass out 50 and half those don't go directly in the garbage then half of those are for places that are hiring and half of those are hiring for what I'm good at I might get 1 or 2 phone calls back. It's either that or get a job at Home Depot or some shit.

Unicorn part

Finally found an l-series distributor shaft and bought that ish in a heartbeat. This, combined with an l20 distributor should make the ignition side of my carb setup complete. Now all I have to do is sell my wheels and I'll have enough cash to handle the fuel side. For that I need to fab an intake manifold, re-jet my bike carbs and get an FPR that can knock the psi down so it won't flood out the carbs. Then I'll be in happy town!!!

Stock body sex

Dude's car is awesome. My wheels are up for sale so I can save up and get some 17's. Progress is slow but I'm moving in the right direction. I'm going to pull the trigger on my carb setup as soon as I can find a damn oil pump shaft from an l-series motor. Oh yea, replaced oil pan so no gay leaky leaky anymore. Happy to be driving around and not waiting for the sound of my lifters shitting out to know when to put oil in.

Dazed and Confused

Just left the interview for the welding position. I don't know what I'm getting myself into. Place was an Irish non-union outfit that was salivating at the thought of getting a trained union ironworker to work for them. If they can get me a job fabbing I'll do it, but I don't think working non-union ironwork can have any outcome but bad if either my local finds out about it or my crotchety, pro-union father-in-law. They have my resume and will be getting in touch with me over the weekend. We'll see what comes of this but my trigger finger is getting itchy for fabrication work so I hope I'll be able to get back to work soon.

This just changed the game for me. My ignition setup went from costing $300+ to just the cost of a distributor and an oil pump driveshaft ($150 tops buying brand new units). SIIIIIICK, now if I didnt have a wedding to pay for I'd probably be able to finally get my carb'd ka I always wanted.

Holy crap

It's been forever since I've updated this jazz. I guess that's a good thing, mainly been out enjoying my car. Don't want to have to rip into it for a while so my damn welded diff and leak-free oil pan are sitting idle on the shelf. One of these weekends I'll put the car up on stands and tear into it. But until then I'll be scraping, slamming and destroying roads in a town near you.

I'll leave with the first car (I'm pretty sure) to be on my blog other than my own. This will be the start of me posting cool stuff to catalog awesomeness somewhere other than my phone. Bosstown dudes are epic, and when you combine an insane photographer with an equally insane car you get pure visual bliss.

Spring ahead, drive around

Haven't gotten much accomplished on the car lately. Driving around seems so much better than tearing my car apart and not being able to cruise on these lovely days. Although I need to get crackin soon, my busted oil pan needs fixin and my welded diff needs to go in so I can get some sideways action. Oh well, some day I'll do it but until then I'll be hardparkin at buddies' houses and eatin pizza and consuming beers.

Daily status

Returned my car to its roots today. Kinda got caught up in the low lifestyle and forgot that I actually need to use my car to go places and be there quick. Driving around like a snail was fun and all but having the ability to throttle it out put a big ass smile on my face. Slight adjustment of my coilovers and I'm a happy Matt.

Winter Low

It snowed today. However a good dose of low and a shiny new leak-free exhaust system is something that can lift anyones spirits. Loving life right now, can't believe it's gonna get even better with the arrival of my tires today. Wheels will go on tomorrow and the ladies undergarments will drop.

Changes are comin!

Got the correct sized lug nuts today to mount my wheels. Going to pick up my exhaust manifold thursday so I can install my shiny new exhaust. 195/50 tires on their way from canada should be here on saturday. I'm practically salivating at the thought of finally being able to have my car put together the way I want it. Can't wait, I feel like a kid counting down to the days til christmas.

Got a cat back yesterday, thing is monstrous. Thought I was going to pick up an exhaust manifold today so I could redo my whole exhaust but the dude's already out of the state and won't be back til monday. So project's on a halt until then. Gotta get my exhaust on first before anything because my current one is definately not low-friendly.

Idle hands

Haven't worked on the car in what seems like forever. Starting to get impatient. Might throw on some stuff this week for shiggles if we don't get another 10 feet of snow. I want low like yesterday! Time to see if I can get some tires mounted on my wheels and try popping the beads on with fire. Fire always makes for fun so why not. I'll keep an update if and when shit goes down

Stickerless...

Ripped all the stickers off my lip today. Turns out my "Union Ironworker" sticker may have gotten me in some trouble. Turns out all my ironworking tools were stolen out of my car. Pretty pissed because it was at least $500 worth of shit. It kills me even more because now I can't work because I have no tools. F'in douchebags...

But this may be a sign, maybe it's time for a career change. Who knows, or maybe I should go drop $200 and get myself a structural tool set and hope for some building to come up in the spring time.

Tomorrows the day I try to get all my shit in line. Gonna replace my clickity-clacking throw out bearing, bent clutch fork and throw in my welded diff. Coils may go on too if I can somehow rig my exhaust up so it doesn't hang so low. Wheels will probably wait, depending on how my test fit of tires goes.

New parts in

Packages have started arriving at my doorstop. They bring good things and put a wrench back in my hand. It feels like it's been eons since I've worked on my car. Hopefully this time something truely awesome will come out of it.

240 day

Got a good day full of 240 goodness. Got to hang out with one of the 240 gurus in revere. Got to see a man almost orgasm by holding a ratchet. And got to daydream about forums dedicated to couches. Toan, you da man. Our dreams will come true soon and we'll both be driving sweet ass 240s makin bitches drop panties
